Hybrid striped bass (wiper)
Possible in many Ohio reservoirs and share the striped/white aggregate limit — white bass are confirmed at Hoover; treat hybrids as “possible / verify reports,” not a guarantee.
Season
- Spring–fall: open water and current areas when bait is present.
- Often mixed in reports with white bass schools — identify carefully.
- Winter: deeper if present.
Time of day
Low light and bait blitzes — same windows as white bass when schools are up.
Where on Hoover
- Open basin and points where shad school (boat advantage).
- Same public access as white bass — no secret pins.
- Verify recent angler reports; don’t assume stocking density.
Limits reminder — verify
| Rule | Reminder (verify 2026–27) |
|---|---|
| Striped / hybrid striped / white bass combined | Daily 30 |
| Over 15″ | No more than 4 of the 30 |
Gear
- Same as white bass / light saltwater-ish spinning if fish run larger.
- 10 hp boat to roam open water legally.
Bait & presentation
- Spoons, soft swimbaits, jigs — shad imitators.
- Live bait only where legal and ethical.
