The Night Bite and Whisperwood Vale have no accounts, no cookies, no ads, and no analytics or tracking scripts. Most of what you do here stays in your own browser.

What stays in your browser

A few features save small notes in your browser’s localStorage so they are still there next visit. They are not sent to The Night Bite. Clearing this site’s data in your browser removes them.

• The Log: your personal trip entries (nightbite-log-v1) and a flag for the example trips (nightbite-samples-seeded-v2).
• Gear: your packing checklist ticks (nightbite-pack-v1) and the bank / boat toggle (nightbite-mode-v1).
• Whisperwood Vale: your game save (whisperwood-save-v1 and related keys), journal and settings. If you export or import a save file, that file stays wherever you put it.

Don’t type secrets, card numbers, or home addresses into trip notes.

Whisperwood feedback (Google Forms)

The Whisperwood Vale feedback button opens a Google Form. It asks for a rating, optional notes, and an optional email if you’d like a reply. No sign-in is required. Google handles the form under the Google Privacy Policy, and responses go to The Night Bite’s Google account.

Trip and tournament submissions

• Email draft: the forms on Log and Tournaments only build a draft in your own email app. Nothing is sent unless you send it.
• GitHub issue: issues on GitHub are public and handled under GitHub’s privacy statement.

Hosting

This site is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub logs the IP address of every visit for security purposes (GitHub Pages data collection, GitHub Privacy Statement). The Night Bite doesn’t receive those logs.

Live water readings (USGS)

The Home and Water pages ask USGS (waterservices.usgs.gov) for the latest Hoover gauge reading straight from your browser, so USGS sees that request like any other website visit. No personal data is sent with it.

Fonts and other sites

Fonts are served from this site, not from a font service. Links to ODNR, USGS, Columbus, Google, and GitHub take you to those sites, which have their own privacy policies.
